I’ve been a busy bee!
Back at University everyone started realising that everything we do now counts towards our degree and so I have been a good girl and done most of my reading every week. Like a student should do instead of second guessing answers to unexpected questions in seminars.
Anyway I am now at the end of my second week in the Easter vacation and I have been reading like crazy. First, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I am currently reading The Duchess of Malfi and next I need to reread some of the tales in Geoffrey Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales.
But the main point of this blog is to say that I am voluntarily doing another week’s placement at Doncaster Council’s communications department starting tomorrow. And so, I will be working long hours as well as fitting in all my reading for Uni. I would much prefer (I think) to work for free and keep myself experienced and occupied during breaks from studying instead of staying in and watching rubbish television.
The fact is, I got this placement easily. Nothing compared to the application process of a paid job and it will look amazing on my CV that I took time out of my break from studying to get experience in a job that I would love as a career. So for those who do not have jobs, there is no excuse for not finding experience in a job that you would like to be paid for in the future.
As you may have seen in a previous post, my efforts at the Council in the past were really appreciated. If I can keep in contact with these people, I will have a much better chance at scoring a job when I graduate than those who laze around for 3 weeks will.
Don’t just moan about being unemployed and under-experienced!
Do something about it!
